Quick 2014 WDW Marathon Update

blgpluto5kSo Boots and I are leaving Wednesday afternoon, a 3 hour jaunt up the Florida Turnpike to hit Walt Disney World for the 2014 Marathon Weekend. Huzzah.

The bad news is that, over the past two weeks, I’ve battled the flu, a UC flare-up, and now a stomach bug of some sort. Yup, with me you can rest assured that when it rains, it freakin’ monsoons.

The good news is that I’ve managed to secure a bib for the 5K run on Thursday morning. That means that I’ll be running three of the four races during the weekend: the 5K, 10K, and Half-Marathon. That’s 3/4ths of the Dopey Challenge — minus the actual Full Marathon, of course. Ain’t nobody got time fo’ that…

Anyway, that’s all I got for right now. I have a whole bunch of movie capsule reviews that I’ve been working on for awhile now, and I hope to get that published before I leave. Also, I’ll be publishing my race times both on Twitter and Facebook on both 10K and 1/2-Marathon race days (but not for the 5K, that race is untimed). If you’re so inclined, give it a look-see. And if you see me out there, say Hi! Despite my gruff, misanthropic appearance, I utterly enjoy it when unknown blog readers come up and introduce themselves! I mean, it’s only happened once but still…

  1. I’ve been reading your blog for a bit and just wanted to delurk to say good luck! I hope everything goes well in spite of the recent illnesses 🙁

  2. I’ll be in touch 🙂 Safe travels to you too! Hope you take some time to relax and defrost a bit before you hit the asphalt.

  3. Thanks for delurking and appreciate the sentiments 🙂 I’m gonna be fine, these have just been more annoyances and inconveniences than anything else. By Thursday I should hopefully be right as rain! (And good luck on your running journey too, keep blogging!)

  4. That one time really made his race!! Run on up and say hi! See you in Feb. My co-conspirator! May the running God’s over rule the monsoon God’s.

  5. Suz is like the greatest running buddy on the planet. This has actually been documented by a blue-ribbon panel of running experts. It’s true! =) Thanks hun, February can’t come fast enough!
