I’m going to Boston! To run! Like, as in a race! A BAA race!!, or: “Just a punk in the street…”

baaHello again!

Well I’ve been fairly quite for the past 2+ weeks, and it’s certainly not for a lack of things to talk about. Summer training has been going along swimmingly, got all sorts of new gear to talk about, about three dozen music reviews mulling around in my head, even a nosh recommendation, talk of a soundtrack (??) and all sorts of other mishegas.

So much to go over, and absolutely no time to write about it. But I haven’t forgotten you guys. Whoever “you guys” are. I still love you.

But here’s a bit of exciting news: this morning — July 16, 2014 — marked the opening of registration for the 2014 Boston Athletic Association (BAA) Half Marathon, to be held on October 12, 2014. To anyone who knows me, it comes as no surprise that I’ve been dying to race in Boston forever. I got my undergraduate degree in Boston and fell in love with the city (and New England as a whole, for that matter). Any chance I can get to return is a cause for celebration to me.

So a Half Marathon makes perfect sense. But the Boston Half sells out almost immediately. There were apparently 3,000 spots available on a first-come, first-serve basis as of 10:00 AM this morning. A remaining 2,500 or so are available as a random lottery. I had no aspersions of actually getting any kind of confirmed entry today, or even EVER, but I thought I’d give it a shot anyhow.

Boston

AND I SUCCEEDED!

I’m heading back to Boston in the fall, with changing leaves, cooler temperatures, and in my favorite city in the country. I’m way, way beyond stoked. Here’s the video:
