OK wasn’t it literally just November 1st three seconds ago? Meh who cares. It’s October 2023 which means this blog, which has remained dormant for the last eleven months, has returned with this years much-needed and finally-delivered selection of Buttkickin’ Halloween Songs!

And not a moment too soon either, because all these people starting the so-called “Spooky Season” in July need to have a stiff talking-to, but I’ll save that rant for another time.

Anyway tor those of you new to the channel and also for you long-timers, this is the Tenth Anniversary of our ongoing Halloween playlist! Yup, we started our list back on October 8, 2013 with The Kinks’s Wicked Annabella and have been going strong since. Our ethos is simple: share some great songs that will spook and thrill and disturb, and avoid the obvious overplayed crap like “Monster Mash”, “Thriller”, “Ghostbusters”, “Werewolves of London”, etc.

Anything to make your real Spooky Season much more enspookified.

So we always kick off our annual shebang with a great big barnstormer of a rocker, and they don’t come much greater, bigger, or barnstoomier than Halestorm’s Back From The Dead. We got Lizzy’s signature snarling but melodic vocals, thick metal guitar riffs, and buttloads of rebellious attitude. All of this coalesces into a buttkickin’ three-and-a-half minute sucker-punch to the Grim Reaper. She’s got business to finish on Earth.

Maybe that’s one of the reason Halloween is so inimitably buttkickin’ in and of itself. It’s basically awakening our dead selves into the joyous macabre and decadent devilishness in which we’re free to indulge publicly. At least until November 1st, I suppose.
