It’s always kind of special when a Friday the 13th falls in October, a perfect apotheosis of Spooktacular Occurrences. So in honor of this auspicious occasion, I’m throwing in Alice Cooper’s 1986 track He’s Back (The Man Behind The Mask), the theme song to yet another tiresome entry into the Friday the 13th film saga, Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.

Have you seen Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives? Well DON’T. Ecch. OK it has some sorta humorous moments and a great cameo from Ron “Arnold Horshack” Palillo, but that’s about it.

(Here’s a fun random fact about your narrator: the director of Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood is married to my 2nd cousin — whom I’ve never met. Shout out to Lynn!)

Anyway the song itself is no great shakes — we’ve got a much better Alice Cooper song coming up — but it sort of fits the moment so let’s just run with it. Check out the video below, which eschews the SUPER cheeseball 80s synthpop of the original in favor of live, infinitely heavier hard rock/metal. Plus the lovely Orianthi on guitar. *sighs dreamily*
