Sighs in frustration…<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only Broken Peach could get me to include Enter Sandman<\/strong> in my Halloween playlist. Because otherwise I can’t stand the freakin’ song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But damn do I love my Peaches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So let’s get this out of the way. Enter Sandman<\/strong>. Arguably Metallica’s most mainstream hit. The one your annoying little sister and all her teenybopper friends know and love. The one that lame as Boomer AM talk radio hosts use as bumper music to show how “hip” and “badass” they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I generally can’t stand the thing. And I love me some Metallica. Especially the first four albums, but I’m not a total hater of their mid\/later periods. I mean, we’ve featured tons of Metallica in our playlist: The Thing That Should Not Be<\/a>, The Call of Ktulu<\/a>, All Nightmare Long<\/a>, Creeping Death<\/a>, <\/em>and Am I Evil?<\/a>,<\/em> just to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I would have been more than happy to leave Enter Sandman<\/strong> off my list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But then the Peaches had to go ahead and breathe amazing new life into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those of you not in the know, Broken Peach<\/a> is a female-fronted Spanish band who have gained a ton of popularity from their array of amazingly produced, arranged, and performed cover tunes. And every Halloween they produce a standout “spooky” track that widens their fanbase every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Count me among them. Which is why we’ve included their wondrous cover tunes in our Halloween playlist, like This is Halloween<\/em><\/a> and Pink Elephants on Parade<\/em><\/a>. Here they’ve taken the seminal Metallica track from 1991 and exploded it with their sassy blend of verb and energy. And spooky creepiness. And mesmerizing dance moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And a special guest appearance by the Talking Heads. Hmm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, their take on Enter Sandman <\/strong>makes me actually like the song, and gives it enough new energy and spooky Halloween atmos to warrant inclusion. Even if it looks like we lost one of the peaches somewhere. Alas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
