I have to thank my friend Sarah for introducing me to this song (which I missed while watching “The Umbrella Academy”). Not so much because of its Halloween creepy factor, but because she thought I looked like the band’s cellist, who as it turns out is an incredibly<\/em> creepy dude.<\/p>\n

Well never mind that. Let’s talk today’s tune, the catchy as all hell In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company <\/strong>from the Canadian folk-bluegrass band The Dead South<\/a>. And yes, I am not unaware that I’ve featured similar folk tunes in the past (maybe as recently as two days ago<\/a>), but I’m throwing this one into the mix because the song is so damn creepy and cool.<\/p>\n

The story is as simple as this: Man finds out he’s got himself one cheatin’ wife. Man kills cheatin’ wife. Whatever happens after that — it’s hinted that he’s lynched for the crime — he still looks forward to reuniting with his beloved. In Hell.<\/p>\n

What is it with folk songs and killing your wife? Misogyny runs rampant out in them there wilderness.<\/p>\n

Any way, give a listen and I dare you not to be captivated by In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company<\/strong>. The song is so undeniably catchy yet still joyfully macabre. It’s entirely perfect for that joyful October hayride straight into the Underworld…<\/p>\n
