Even if he hadn’t directed two Halloween<\/em> movies, Rob Zombie would still be infinitely associated with All Hallows Eve.<\/p>\n

The man and his music, his entire aesthetic if you will, is what you might expect to find if a horror movie fanzine came to life, assumed human form, strapped on a seven-string Ibanez, and exploded onto the entire industrial metal multiverse.<\/p>\n

And even if you hadn’t spent your formative years worshiping at the altar of Universal Classic Monsters, Technicolor Hammer Horror, Val Lewton’s dark thrillers, and the collective consciousness Tobe Hooper, John Carpenter, and Mario Bava geekdom, the electronic metal hooks of Rob Zombie’s Living Dead Girl<\/strong> would still ensnare you. Its methodical pace creeps upon you like a carnivorous fog, accompanied by crushing guitars buzzing around you like mutant insect hordes readying for their feast. Even the industrial vibe evokes imagery of cannibal hillbillies sharpening their tools in ravenously malicious anticipation.<\/p>\n

Living Dead Girl<\/strong> is both the perfect length at 3:22 while also leaving you wanting more. In between the various horror movie soundbites and the near stream-of-consciousness lyrics that reference multiple horror movies without drawing a narrative between them, you’re left in a wondrously unsettled state of terror irresolution. A seventh chord of Musical Jeepers, as it were.<\/p>\n

And why the pic of Boots up there? Because (a) she’s forever my Living Dead Girl, and (b) we hit up Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando this year. The latter had a Rob Zombie-based scare zone, and we may<\/em> have had a few<\/em> cocktails before arriving there, and they might<\/em> have been blasting Living Dead Girl<\/strong> as we arrived.<\/p>\n

So Boots jumped in and started dancing. And that monster looking thingy has no idea what to do with her. I so love that pic. Fearless in its integration of the terrifying. Or just White Girl Wasted. Whatever!<\/p>\n
