Registered for the 2014 Disney Princess Half, but with a solid purpose! or: “There’s never been an oyster so divine…”

OK I’m gonna just make this a brief update — oh, HI everyone! — anyway this is just a head’s up on some recent running goings-on and stuff.

So I’m officially registered for the 2014 Disney Princess Half-Marathon. That’s hardly news at ALL around these parts, really. I’ve done four Disney running events and as overpriced as they are — and they are insanely overpriced — I generally really enjoy them, food poisoning or blown-out IT band and all.

The event will be held in February 2014. I’ve done eight halfs as of this writing, with another four or five scheduled for the rest of the year (starting with Disneyland on Labor Day weekend), so I’ll be more than prepped for it. But I wanted this run to be special. Ostensibly, the Princess half is geared towards women (although men are more than welcome to participate), and I wanted this run to have some serious significance to it. I did not want it be “just another race”, but one that I can use to contribute something of real tangible value back into society.

As such, I’ll be using the opportunity to raise money for ALS awareness and research. I don’t have all the ins and outs as of yet, but I’m trying to incentivize my experience. Thereby, I will be running this race in a tutu. Right now, a black one. If I raise enough money — I’ll be setting dollar thresholds — it might be a pink one. Or a bedazzled one. Maybe fairy wings. Maybe a wand. Maybe a freakin’ tiara. Who knows… I will also be growing the longest beard possible to keep what’s left of my lingering manly-manliness intact. But if I end up floating away, off into the heavens, flittering about, as I cross the finish line, at least some money will have been raised for a really important cause.

That’s all I got today. Still a lot of planning to do in the next 8 months, but there we have it. It’s out there. Here’s the stinkin’ video:
